The Language of Gift Giving
Experimentation project to develop character design skills. My idea came from the concept of the 5 “love languages”, which says everyone has at least one, as a form of expressing and receiving love. I made the question: what if these languages were people?
I decided to explore the language of Gift Giving, as it is often misunderstood as being materialistic. I made a mood board breakdown of how I see the language, and then made two iterations of how they could look like as a character.
I polished the character design from its first iterations and ended up being inspired to make a small publication that explains the reality of the love language vs. what it is mistaken as. I chose for it to have simplistic language, such as a manual book to understand this love language. I played with the concept that this is part of a series of books where each focuses on a different love language, each having its own designated colour.
The final outcome was an A5 printed publication.
